Laminectomy

Laminectomy is a surgical procedure that creates space by removing the lamina, the back part of the vertebra that covers your spinal canal. Laminectomy is one of the spinal decompression techniques that enlarges your spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. Spinal pressure is usually caused by bony overgrowths within the spinal canal, which occurs in people with spinal arthritis.

Conditions Treated by Laminectomy

  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Herniated or Bulging Discs
  • Spondylosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
